Fir Trees learn to love music. Music therapy is all about the process of making music, without the worry of a polished product. Fostering positive experiences with music, while learning the language of music, can lead to a lifelong positive relationship with music and skills that generalize to academic and life skills.
Fir Trees will learn:
- Early music literacy and ear training skills
- Rhythms and sight-reading skills
- Improvisational skills
- Listening skills
- Social skills
- Collaboration and Compromise
- Write original compositions or arrangements
Fir Trees (6-12)
Fir Trees ask several existential questions through this age range. Most commonly, they ask themselves “how well can I do this”, “what do I want” and “who am I?” Children at this age are so hungry for information and new experiences. They want to see how well they can perform, but also want to explore what possibilities there are. In the Fir Trees group, music literacy is introduced, some aspect of performance is present, but it is so much more about the process of making music and being a part of a social group. They will practice the art of working as a team, creative problem solving, and improving self-esteem.
