Refuge Music Therapy, LLC offers individual sessions for clients in the Eugene and Springfield, area. Please feel free to call 541-231-7239 for a free 15 minute consultation to see if music therapy might be a good fit for you or your child, and to schedule your first visit. Sessions are generally about 50-55 minutes long, depending on the needs of the client. Insurance reimbursement may be available depending on eligibility and benefits of the individual’s insurance plan. Please have an intake form filled out before your assessment.

First sessions are between 50-70 minutes. Physical, cognitive, social, and emotional strengths and opportunities are identified and documented. Typically, parents and children will be together for at least the first 15 minutes of the first session, and then the session may proceed one-on-one if appropriate. After the first visit, the therapist will write up the assessment and treatment plan, coordinating functional goals and objectives with each client’s interdisciplinary team. Assessments are considered an out-of-pocket expense by most insurance companies, and is due at the time of service.

Insurance Reimbursement

Many private insurance plans are willing to pay for services. Music therapy is billed as an out-of-network provider. In order to bill insurance, all intake paperwork must be completed, a prescription for music therapy services and letter of medical necessity must be obtained from the primary care physician, and an assessment must be completed. Once the Intake form is received, the music therapist will fill out a request to your physician for these documents, and will do the initial call on benefits to your insurance company.
